fainted while singing

fainted while singing?
today i was practiceing a solo im doing for chorus at lunch i had just ate. but i was in the middle of the song, and its a very hight piched song. i felt fine durring the first half of the song i was smileing and having fun it was very sudden and i got kinda dizzy. and i couldnt really see. cuz it was all black. , i just stoped singing. and fell down on the floor. i woke up with my friend who is also singing part of that song. and my teacher, trying to see if i was fine, i just wanted to lie there. my musels felt weak. i am only 13. i know that it is pretty common so i wasnt to scared. but i was imbaresed, they anted me to go to the nurse but our nurse is a jerk. so i refused. insted i laid on the risers. after about an hour, i felt completly fine, and then played in a soccer gamme and was fine, whhat do you think about all this??? is this common to faint while, singing? should i continue to do the solo? do you think it will happen again? btw i dont know why the font is like this sorry.

It was probably because of poor breathing technique. Breathing is an EXTREMELY important part of singing. You should learn to breathe from the diaphragm, not the lungs, and learn when to breathe (in a song). Ask any singers you know, or search the web for more info.
2 :
This can usually happen when the high pitched sound pinches the nerve in your brain causing your brain to over work and then stop and display an effect of Light - Headed. Don't worry I play the Piano and violin and get Light-headed sometimes. :)

Does you baby get overstimulated easily

Does you baby get overstimulated easily?
I have two girls and am wondering if it's a girl thing, just from i have seen personally. It could be a coincidence. When my two year old was a baby she was very independent and usually wanted to fall asleep solo and could only handle a little bit of hands on before getting irritable. One day we were at a family get together and she was passed from person to person, by the time we got home and i nursed her at home, she was trying to nurse without touching me. That was the most extreme. Now my two month old daughter is the same way. she wants to be solo to fall asleep and is happier being by herself, loves being talked to but gets easily frustrated with hands on and being held. She cries to get put down quite often. She is also currently nursing. Just wondering though if it's a girl thing or if anyone else has this experience? Most of the boy babies i know want constant attention, but is that a coincidence? Lol, it's strange that i have 2 kids that are the same way. My oldest is 2 now and it was probaly when she was about a year old when she wanted more cuddling. She was always social, just didn't like being held very often.

It is possible that they are sore from all the handling and passing around and just don't want to be held anymore.
2 :
Um, my daughter is 1 and she was a very demanding baby that ALWAYS wanted to be held till recently. So IDK.
3 :
I don't think it has anything to do with gender. My daughter is almost 9 months old and is the most social baby I have ever seen! She loves people and is VERY secure in pretty much any environment.
4 :
My moms says I was like that when I was a baby but I thought I was the only one. Good to know there is other people like that in this world!
5 :
My boy is the same way. He likes for us to play and chit chat for a bit whilst he's awake, but if I get too goofy he is like 'ok mom, enough, put me down' lol. He doesn't mind being held, but if i am overly playful he gets agitated. I tell my husband he reminds me of Stewie from Family Guy... These little babys have such BIG personalities :-)
6 :
I have 2 girls and 1 boy. All my children had this issue. They all want alot of attention but when they are done they want it dark and quit.

Do I really need a dam

Do I really need a dam?
I'm in my 40s. My man wanted to marry me and provide for me so I can take care of HIM. He hates me now cause I flipped the script (changed my mind about him). I'm not a doormat. I've experienced all types of losers and I want to be married for the rest of my life, but, why can't I be with someone who I know really loves and cares about ME? Not another loser who needs a nurse. I'm at rock bottom, raised my kids solo to adulthood and I know I can still reach a couple goals for myself as long as I have health and determination. Love or no love, do I really need a dam (him) blocking the flow of my river? Won't it happen for us anyway if it's meant to be for us?

Well if you don't want to take care of him, don't marry him. Why is this so difficult?
2 :
you know the answer.
3 :
Only if it's meant to be it will happen, otherwise whatever happens will happen.
4 :
Your question indicates that you have followed similar paths before, and not liked the results you had found. What you are proposing with this man is a marriage of convenience. This might be all fine and good if you wish to live loveless and under his thumbs, so to speak. The law doesn't necessarily provide for such arrangements, and if he decides to stop "providing" for you, what then? Your best bet is to either stay single, or to attempt a real relationship with a man who loves you for you. Personally, I think that you may need some professional help if you have been selling yourself short in this way as your description suggests. You have been choosing desperate men who will resent you on many levels... why?
5 :
IDK; are you a beaver?? LOL. If he is making you into a doormat then hell no, it's time to dump his sorry ass. But if he is only trying to achieve his own goals and needs your help until he does then you married him and you should at least give him that chance. Know what I mean?
6 :
"why can't I be with someone who I know really loves and cares about ME?" Because those aren't the types of men YOU choose to be with.
7 :
You sound to me like someone who is a bit to picky. It is okay that you still have goals you want to reach and keep your river open(so to speak).Let me just throw this at you though, time is like a demon that creeps up and takes a womans looks before they realize it,so don't keep your river flowing to long or you may just be up it without a paddle(so to speak).

Nursing School Options

Nursing School Options?
Hey everyone, thanks for checking this out. I have a real dilemma on my hands. My life dream is to become a military nurse, I truly feel called to do it. By the end of this year (at around May), I have to make my decision about the ROTC scholarship and whether I want to join the military or not. A big bonus to the military is the paid tuition, due to the fact that my family cannot pay for school. My decisions are, Get into Oakland University's or University of Detroit's BSN of nursing program freshman year, go to Michigan State or University of Michigan, do my pre-reqs there, then try to get into their nursing program. If I get into Oakland, I don't need to do the ROTC. I hear getting into BSN programs your freshman year is really tough, but do you think I stand a chance? Here are my stats. 3.9 GPA with honors and AP classes, 1st chair trumpet player in all top bands at my school, All-District player every year, top rankings in Solo & Ensemble, Marching Band section leader, loads of volunteer hours, Student Council rep, interact (community service) member, Varsity Cross-Country, Soccer, and Track, Track team captain. **Do you think it's possible for me to get in a nursing program freshman year, or should I just go be a doctor? Basically, I'm afraid to do nursing because if I don't get all A's and get into a nursing program I'm scared of being left with a useless degree. Will it be useless? Then I think about being a doctor because I know you don't NEED to get all A's, but then you go to school for 10 years. There are so many pro's and cons, and I don't know what to do. I can choose ROTC and pray I get into a good nursing school, or just go be a doctor. What are your opinions? Sorry about the rambling. Also, I don't mind studying for long amounts of time. I'm also very very outgoing and friendly. I'm a great people person. **Do you think I'd get into nursing schools easier if admissions saw I was going into the Navy or Army for nursing or medicine?

It sounds like you are a very driven, goal-oriented person. I was in band, too (and played trumpet), so I know how challenging it can be. You really need to talk to your guidance counselor and if possible go to the colleges you are considering for a visit. There are a lot of options open to you and the ROTC sounds like a great way to accomplish your goals.

What's a good song to sing as a solo besides these

What's a good song to sing as a solo besides these?
I'm going with my friend to a nursing home to do some caroling, and she wants me to sing a song by myself too while she plays the piano. I need to figure out a song to sing before Monday, December 21st. I'm pretty sure I'm a mezzo-suprano/suprano type voice (all my teacher has heard me sing is The National Anthem tho lol). I'll put a star next to the ones that I would have done (that fit my voice) except for I can't sing any of these cause we're caroling them: Santa Clause is coming to town Deck the halls The first noel Joy to the world Winter wonderland (*) Have yourself a merry little christmas Jingle Bells (*) O come all ye faithful White Christmas (*) Hark the harold angels sing We wish you a merry Christmas Anybody know any other well known songs that would work well with my voice type?

Should I delivery solo or not

Should I delivery solo or not?
I am due in about 7 weeks and I still haven’t decided if I want anyone with me while I deliver my baby. I am really annoyed and irritated already and I can only imagine I will be worse while in labor. Has anyone ever delivered without anyone besides the doctor and nurses in the room?

I have no kids right now. But many people only have their boyfriend/ husband with the nurse and doctors in the room, thats it. I wouldn't feel comfortable with the family in there, thats what the waiting rooms for. good luck with your choice.
2 :
I delivered for kids 3 of them solo the last one with my sister in law giving birth is undescribable it is truly a miracle labor is what is rough delivery is a breeze if i had the chance like my kids i would share it with the ones closest to me no one was aloud in when i was pregnant i was with my girls you could not give me a billion dollars to miss it the baby is a miracle giving birth is a blessing good luck
3 :
Usually it's common to have the father of the child in there or, if you don't want them, some women have their mothers. Really it is all about whatever is going to make you the most comfortable. You delivery is about you and the baby, you don't need any other added stress, so if you do have someone, make sure they are someone who supports you.
4 :
When I had my daughter my mom would not leave the room and I was so annoyed (my husband was there as well). So when I had my son I didn't tell anyone until after he was born, I didn't want the madhouse that I had when she was born. I was like you and really irritable and I even told my husband that if he did one thing to annoy me he was getting kicked out. He ended up being just fine and even helped catch our son and cut the cord. I suggest inviting ONE person in there because you want someone to be there for support but don't tell anyone else until after the baby is born.
5 :
i just had my mom and one nurse. if i had to do it all over again i would make sure there was another person in there with me. i only had one person holding my leg..my mom...and it was so hard. i dont care if i have to pull a stranger out in the hospital to hold my other left next time around...i will do it! my arms from holding my legs hurt the most after having my son. so make sure there are two people holding your legs. there wasnt but one nurse in the room with me until i was about done.
6 :
I was the same way when i was about to have my son. i had been arguing a lot with my boyfriend(his father) and wasnt even sure if i wanted him there when he was born. he was and i am glad that he was there to see our son be born. everything is good now

We'll I'm just started college. After I graduated Nursing, I wanted to take Architecture then. And possible fine arts or music. How hard is it having many professions. Then I will build a hospital with my own design and a music theater more like of an orchestra where I can make my first solo concert. If its possible though.

4/5 people. 2 male basses, 2 female sopranos, 1 female alto. I would prefer mostly solos, but a duet or two, and even a song we can all sing together would be good. Musicals, classical, etc. Please help. :)

What are some ideas for activites for an elderly man with dementia

What are some ideas for activites for an elderly man with dementia?
My Grandpa was just put in a nursing home. He suffers from dementia, and I was trying to think of activites (preferably solo) for him. Some hand-held game ideas or something? Oh, and just and FYI, he's mainly in the nursing home temporarily for his severe broncitis, not his dementia. And we visit, but we can't be there 24/7. So when we aren't there, i wanted some ideas for him to entertain him.
Senior Citizens - 7 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
He would benefit from group activities and get to know the other residents. Solo games just sound so lonely.
2 :
Depending on how severe his dementia, it's good to involve activities that keep the mind working and clicking. Except, you've got to be sure it's not over-working and confusing the poor guy. I work at an adult family home and our gentlemen like to put together small puzzles, bounce balls back and forth, play cards, word searches or crossword puzzles, read books that evoke some nostalgia...etc. Hope I helped at least a little! i'd like to know more about what I can do to keep dementia and alzheimers people engaged !
3 :
There are a lot of hand-held games he might enjoy. Also a personal cd player with some of his favorite songs. Big bands, etc. I did this for my aunt, but she threw everything in a drawer & never used it. I'm in another state, but her 2 children are there.----e-mail me if you want.
4 :
Just visit him. He isn't a child waiting to be entertained. He lives in his MOMENT and to help him is to spend time in that moment. Persons with AD do not use HAND HELD apparatus for entertainment.
5 :
From my experience, unless your grandpa was interested in the hand held devices before, he'll probably find them confusing and frustrating now. I think it would be best to base his activities on his known interests. For example, if he was a card player, then try to find him a card playing partner. If he was a wood worker, a birdhouse kit or something like that might keep his interest. I don't think that this is the time to be introducing complicated activities, but it is a time to build on his own interests.
6 :
From working in an Assisted Living facility, I found that helping the elderly color with crayons in a coloring book is good. While they may not color the entire picture themself, you can entertain them by doing it. Warning though, if he acts like he isn't interested in 'whatever' don't push it. What may happen is you'll have an elderly man w/dementia in a fit of rage.
7 :
My dad had dementia, and more and more he lost his interest in life. He previously liked to read and play cards, but he gradually enjoyed tv, watching musical activities at the assisted living home, and just sitting and watching people. He didn't enjoy interactive activities with others, because I think he realized he couldn't keep up. Everyone is different, but he didn't have the agility or concentration to play hand-held games. Good luck. Ask him, and read up on what is available.

Violinists! Suggest some solo pieces to play for a group of about 50 people

Violinists! Suggest some solo pieces to play for a group of about 50 people?
The character in my story is a nurse, played violin for ten years as a child (5-15) and had dreams of going professional someday, but her mother dies and that decided her future career. Ten years later, her boyfriend (a fine craftsman) makes a kit violin and gives it to her. She is touched by this and decides to practice some classical melodies to entertain the members of their small community. I like Massenet's Meditation from Thais and Boccarini's Minuet, but there is no accompaniment available, and I'm not sure how nice they would be without. Please don't suggest something like Sarasate's Gypsy Airs! She's not a virtuoso! That's far beyond her technical skills. She remembers some tunes she loved well enough to be able to recapture them after a few weeks of practice. Thanks! If this isn't clear enough, please let me know and I'll ask another question, or add details. 1 MAR 08, 0457 hrs, GMT.

Massenet's Meditation would be fine .I often hear buskers play this unaccompanied and it sounds great. It is perfect for the story too. Another one to consider might be the violin transcription of Chopin's nocturne number 20 in C# minor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I4zoyEwT3s This sounds good unaccompanied as well. Also : Paganini...Cantabile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEtens6JJp8

I have sung at many nursing homes and the people always seem to enjoy show tunes, especially classic ones. Here are a few ideas: "Cockeyed Optimist" - Showboat "I'm Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta my Hair" - Showboat "Think of Me" - Phantom of the Opera (you may have to transpose it down since it goes a bit above your range "I Could Have Danced All Night" - My Fair Lady "Hello, Young Lovers" - The King and I "Simple Joys of Maidenhood" - Camelot "Til There Was You" - The Music Man "The Sound of Music" - "The Sound of Music" Hope that list gets you started :)

"Black Velvet" by Lita Ford...
4 :
take as much advantage as you can...the more you take the better ...dont wack out now..or you might not get a second chance.
5 :
I think that song is appropriate for a nursing home, if that is the song you're singing. Tip: Use your diaphragm more. I don't know if it's your camera or mic, but you sound like you're straining to stay in chest voice on some of the top notes. Either that, or go into middle/head voice. You have a great vibrato. Are you singing backup? I notice you're not singing the entire song. If you are, darken your vowels. By that, I mean rather than get all smiley when you sing your vowels, elongate your mouth into an "O" or an oval shape, leaving your jaw loose rather than tightening it up or widening the corners of your mouth. It makes it sound more.. choral. That's what you're looking for if you're singing backup. If you're not, you can sound your vowels in your own style, but you have a habit of sliding your notes when they go from low to high. DON'T slide. Please. It makes good singers sound like moaning or wailing banshees. You know how stereotypical ghosts sound? That's the sound you'll produce if you slide. Unless you're Def Leppard. Since you're not, go straight from the high note to the low note without sliding it (if you know what I mean by sliding), and vice versa. Also be sure to enunciate your consonants better. You really have a great voice otherwise, though, and ya gotta start somewhere, huh? ;] PS: sing Hallelujah. It really does showcase voice.

Making a living playing music

Making a living playing music?
I play violin very well and have for a long time in local orchestras, nursing homes, etc but not necessarily for pay. I'd just love to get paid to play, but I don't know how to start the process and need advice. I'd like to play solo for events, what has worked for you as far as rates, advertising, and getting bookings? Thanks so much for any help you can give me to get me on my way! Take care!

Try the orchestra around your biggest city!
2 :
Well if u get a record deal there isnt any money in it the record company just buys it all.
3 :
Hi there, I propose a different aspect.. How about joining forces with another artist and create a "band". Then you have may get double the exposure because you have 2 people reaching for the stars.
4 :
Look into ambient music That stuff you never notice during movies but sets the tone for whats happening. Ive heard its pretty easy to get into if you can track down a company and pretty much all the employ are strings and percussion.
5 :
Start your own band. There are a lot of very good 'fiddlers' who have their own bands and many of them are women. A lot of country and rock bands are adding violins to their instrument lineup.
6 :
I play solo Irish harp, which admittedly lends itself more easily to solo performances than violin does, in that I can play melody with chord accompaniment by myself. I have a regular gig in a local restaurant that I do three days a week; perhaps you might ask some of your local places if they'd be interested in your music as background for diners. Use your contacts in the music community in your area; it is vital for you to have a wide net of people who know you and might refer a gig or two your way. It is true that forming a band might be a good idea; but be careful who you associate with, that you are all of similar skill level and expectations. Print some business cards with all your contact info, and always have them with you. You should definitely get a webpage together, and perhaps a Myspace page. I learned early in my career that no one will take you seriously unless you take yourself seriously. Charging for your services is a great way to establish that. BEWARE of playing for "exposure"...unless you are very new, it just means that you're playing for free or for chump change, and if you are too willing to accept that, you won't be taken seriously. Your rates will depend on what your local market dictates; have a word with some of the other musicians in your orchestra as to what is a good idea for one of your skill level and experience, and grow it from there. Good luck in the new career!

I share that same dream...well except on the viola. Well if your pre college look into a good music school, many ensembles look into talent there. I'm guessing it depends on what style you play too. :)
8 :
Your best tool is word of mouth. If you can manage some public performances as a soloist (even if you have to busk or play for tips), you can establish yourself somewhat. Rates greatly depend on your location and venue. As well as your particular niche and the amount of competition you face. Most established venues have established rates.

I play solo Irish harp, which admittedly lends itself more easily to solo performances than violin does, in that I can play melody with chord accompaniment by myself. What is a good Christmas song to sing at a concert

What is a good Christmas song to sing at a concert?
I'm in my high school's choir and in December, we'll be doing concerts at nursing homes and at my school. I've always been too afraid to sing a solo, but this year, I'm gonna face my stage fright fears and just do it. So I want some suggestions on what Christmas song I should sing. It can't be a too uncommon song bc I have to buy it karaoke somewhere. I'm a soprano, but I'd rather not sing anything that was too high...Other than that, any suggestions are welcome. THANKS!

It would most definately have to be one that you are familar with or most comfortable with. A few of my favorites are "what child is this" and "O Holy Night" (which is good for a soprano). If there is an issue of having a religous song being sung, "I'll be home for christmas" is good so is "white christmas". Good luck, and remember to have fun!!!

What can a nurse do in a morgue

What can a nurse do in a morgue?
I'm studying nursing, but I'm really tired of all this drama that tend to surround the hierarchical foundation of the somatic/psychiatric units. My mind leans to where it's more quiet and independent: morgue. I know that most of the answers would be from the US, but at least I'll know something about this. 1. Can having BA in Nursing qualify me to work in a morgue? 2. What education is needed for that? 3. What about the pay? 4. How many shifts are there? 5. How many people is there per shift and what are their roles? 6. Is the work there more teamwork or solo work? Thank you in advance....for real answers! /Haleo.

My cousin worked in a morgue in England on his holiday away from Australia. So anyone can apply and gain a job in the morgue. I don't know how much they get paid but Ben was able to pay for the expensive accommodation in London and still be able to eat, drink and party. So I would say a fair amount as his rent was almost $1,000 English pounds. I would guess there would only be a day shift when you get the bodies autopsied. And someone would be there at night to go get the bodies and put them in the fridge. The Forensic Pathologist is the Boss in the morgue, then you have the assistants. Some of your work would be sols. Some would be team work. I am a Nurse also and hate the political bull dust. I am now training to go into Drug and Alcohol addiction/rehab. But I would also like to work in the morgue.

Advice for a part time model

Advice for a part time model.?
Hi, I'm 19, a sophomore art/photography major in college, and putting myself through school with loans and some modeling gigs on the side. I've surprised myself with how many gigs I've been able to get so fast, and how I've managed to act/comport myself so professionally at such a young age. Its really boosted my confidence. But I am currently scheduled to do my first nude shoot. It is with a local artistic photographer whose work I know well enough that I DO trust that the shoot will be artistic/tasteful, that the images wont be sold except in his art gallery, etc etc. But I'm still scared out of my wits. I know posing for artistic nudes comes with the job description, and I know need to grow up and get used to being a model--which isn't always nothing but glamerous/fun shoots (just as a nurse can't choose not to change bedpans, models have to, well, model haha). But that doesn't make me any less freaked out. No guys have ever really seen me naked. Heck I've gotten freaked out just with having to change and be fitted for dresses in big ol busy rooms for fashion shoots etc.....so posing solo in the buff has me scared crapless. I know it isn't professional to back out on a gig last minute, and I know that gigs like this come with the territory, and I know I can trust this photographer.....so it isn't any of that. I just am scared. And want advice and perspective.

You can't take it back afterward, so you should make sure it is really what you want to do. There is no rule that says you have to take nude jobs. If you are going to turn down the job, don't wait till the last minute. Don't make a mess out of the photographer's schedule and cost him the money for crew, location, props, etc. unnecessarily. On the other hand if you do that job, you are going to find it is not as big a deal as you think it is going to be. I have worked with several first time nude models, and generally they are nervous, for about 10 minutes. After that they relax and have fun with it. Even though there is a robe to use in between shots, they usually forget about it after a bit. As long as everyone is behaving professionally and the model is not being pushed in to doing something she really doesn't want to do nervousness just doesn't last very long. How you feel right now is actually the hardest part.

2 :
I personally wouldn't do it if I were you. I know models as well, and have actually done some modelling myself. For one, it isn't worth it if you don't have the confidence. Secondly, those pictures may come back to haunt you in the future; I know, I know, its all "artistic" and everything but many people without that artistic sense would simply view it in a strange way. Tell your manager that you don't feel comfortable with these shoots, I'm sure he'll understand. As a PART-TIME model, you should only model for things you're comfortable with - that is, assuming that modelling is simply a side job & that you're not planning on pursuing it later on in the future. Ultimately, its your decision. I'm just telling you what I would do. Good luck!
3 :
If you have drawn or photographed nude models, just imagine that you are one of the ones who has been a subject for your art. Remember how calm they were about it. You probably know to bring a robe to wear when you are not being photographed.

It doesn't necessarily have to come with the job. You shouldn't back out completely just say that after considering it you don't feel comfortable posing full nude. He can probably give you something to cover up with a little. You may regret posing fully nude later. I believe that your (full) body should be kept only for your husband. It takes something away if countless other people have seen you naked. There have been models that don't pose nude. Explain how you feel about it to the photographer and he can probably give you something to partially cover up with. Hope everything goes well :

If you don't feel comfortable posing in this genre then by all means - don't do it! If you're uncomfortable, there is a good chance that it will show in the pictures themselves anyway. Personally, I think there are many other area's you can model in with some degree of cover that skipping this shoot will not hurt your career in the least! I guess the real question is do you want this to be your first naked experience or did you want to save that for someone special someday?
2 :
speak to the photographer... i'll bet you aren't the first to freak... it is all a matter of your mind-set... ask him if you can: 1) start off clothed 2) slowly reveal more 3) wear something like a mask so it is your "alter-ego" 4) start with parts that don't show your face or "naughty bits" 5) see the shots he takes as you go along eventually you will start to enjoy yourself...
3 :
I disagree... doing nudes is not something you HAVE to do if your a model. It's all what your comfortable with. However if your sure it's just nerves and nothing your going to regret later in life then my advice would be to go with it. If your at all in doubt though then just tell the photographer ASAP that you've changed your mind. If he doesn't understand then you know for sure you made the right choice because he should not pressure you into such a big decision given that it is your first time. Perhaps you should do some timer shots of yourself just so you can actually see what your getting yourself into so to speak. Once you see the images (ones only you have control over) then maybe you'll figure out that it's no big deal or that it's not something you want out there.
4 :
Communication is always the key. Talk to the photographer. More than likely you will not be the first nervous model they have dealt with. As suggested earlier, perhaps you could do some clothed/fashion shots beforehand. That is one of the main reasons I do a pre-shoot meet & greet with any new model I work with (normally coffee at a public place of their choosing). That way, we get to know one another before the actual shoot.

I shoot nudes (I'm a female photographer) & have no issue with anyone bringing a chaperone with them if they wanted, although some photographer's prefer not to have anyone else present - not for lecherous reasons, but because other people can be a distraction. What you have to remember is that a pro photographer is not looking at you sexually - he/she is more concerned with the lighting and posing than any hanky panky - same as any professional would (ie a doctor's exam). You're both there to do a job & that's that. Posing nude doesn't necessarily 'come with the job' - I know plenty of models who do not do nude work - nor even topless. Implied nude is sometimes as much as they are comfortable with & that's fine too. Only work to your comfort level - if you are awkward or nervous, it'll show in the pose. Just try to relax. Even if you are comfortable doing a nude shoot, there may be certain poses you do not want to do (eg open leg stuff) so say so if you're asked. The photographer should not touch you, even to arrange hair or an arm (certainly not without asking) - I never do unless its a model I've worked comfortably with before. Even then I will always ask. I always check regularly that my model is comfortable or if she wants to take a break. I always provide a towelling robe for breaks in shooting & make sure the studio is warm enough. A couple of pre-shoot pointers - any personal 'grooming' necessary (shaving.waxing) needs to be done a couple of days or so before the shoot to avoid any redness. On the day of the shoot, avoid wearing tight fitting underwear or a bra - strap marks/waistband marks will show on the skin & although they can be removed in post, it's a pain.

Choosing to pose nude is a big decision and a lot of models never do it. If you are at all uncomfortable, don't do it. There are plenty of gigs that don't involve nudity and if you don't feel happy to do it you may always regret it. Also, if the photographer retains the rights s/he can do what ever s/he wants with the photos, including (if money gets tight) selling them to someone else who might post them on an erotica/porn site. That exact scenario happened to a model friend of mine. If this isn't what you want to do, stay away. Of course if you are completely comfortable, go for it. Nudes often pay pretty decently.
4 :
There's not much we can tell you to reassure you that you haven;t already pointed out. Now, it's not true that modeling automatically means you'll do nudes. Go on modelMayhem and look at the ammount of models who are listed as not doing nudes ... there's quite alot of them. I'd suggest you go ahead with it, especially since it's a photog you trust. Try it once and see, if you really don;t like it, you'll know for the future. Personally, I see nothing wrong with nudity, we have bodies and we shouldn't be ashamed of them but that's just my own opinnion, in this, it;s what you think that's important.

Your problem may be that you aren't comfortable enough with your body so you're nervous about doing a shoot, but just remember that if he is an experienced photographer, then he has seen MANY MANY naked women and you will just be one of many. Besides, its just skin, his eyes aren't going to hurt you nor will the lens. Its just you in all your glory

Don't be nervous. Just put together a modeling release form stating that he's not allowed to sell it on the internet and make him sign it. If he doesn't agree with signing it, then don't shoot with him. Nude shoots should be paid gigs, don't take your clothes off for some photographer without pay, that's called taking advantage. Artistic nudes are fine but don't let him make you do "spreads", that's called erotica. You should bring somebody with you during the shoot, just to stay on the safe side. Normal shoots while starting out should be TFCD (unless they offer pay) till you gain some experience, then you should make a rate. Other than that, art nudes are fine :) the human body is beautiful, do not feel shameful

If you're not comfortable with something, don't do it. But you seem as if you want to, so start by thinking about what makes you so nervous. Is it just the fact that nobody has ever really seen your body before? Is it a self-confidence issue? Either way, just tell yourself that you're going to do it and you have nothing to worry about it, and everything will be fine.

Posing nude does not come with the job description. A majority of models don't do nudes. If you decide to, that's your business. But remember what happens if you become successful - those photos will surface and can cost you your career.
2 :
Don't do it if you are scared or uncomfortable. When you have more experience under your belt then you can consider it. Who is pressuring you if anyone. I would just tell the photographer that you are just not ready to do it. If it means no more modeling gigs with this photographer, find someone else.
3 :
don't do it

The things that frighten you the most will often unfold to be the greatest experiences in your life, you have to be in it to win it.

OK don't get me wrong here. I enjoy the female form as much as anyone else. I would just as certainly advocate for you to pose nude if I thought you were really ready for that. But where is it written that you MUST pose nude? Whose rule book are you following here? I live in Toronto, and there are tons of talent, and modelling agencies. In my capacity as a security consultant, I have been in more than one of the very top modelling agencies offices and have overheard the agents tell their prospective clients to remove the nude shots from their portfolios, on more than one occasion. Furthermore, if you have worked as a model in the past, and have gotten a satisfactory number of gigs, then for what reason do you think it is now necessary to add posing nude to your resume' at this juncture? I agree, it is bad form to back out of a professional obligation. But if you can't separate your personal feelings from your work, then you aren't ready for this. I don't know what your agreement is with this photographer. But if you aren't carefull, once the shutter on his camera has clicked, then the picture is probably his property, and that may be until the end of all time, and you may not have any control over how he decides to use those pictures. Maybe you are right, you do need to grow up. But part of growing up doesn't require you to place yourself in a position where you are vulnerable, or can be taken advantage of. Maybe gigs like this do come with the territory. But so does your right to refuse to do things you don't want. I recommend that you call this photographer NOW, and sincerely tell him how sorry you are to cancel, but you aren't ready for posing nude for anyone. One last thing. You say your confidence has taken a boost. I'll bet that is with good reason. You are probably a very attractive young woman. If you really are more confident, then let this be your most serious test of that. If you were worth having there for modelling with clothing on before this, then you will be just as worthwhile having for future gigs without posing nude. You just have to be confident enough in yourself to know that. Good Luck! :-)

What kind of musical group (choir or symphonic band) comes to mind with this name, "Hymns for Him"

What kind of musical group (choir or symphonic band) comes to mind with this name, "Hymns for Him"?
I'm researching to help start up a group of band students in middle school and high school to play as small ensembles, (like duets, trios, quartets..etc.) solos, and actually band pieces at my church and maybe a nearby nursing home. We'd play hymns and church-appropriate songs. This is just the beginning of everything! :) I was thinking of the name for this group to be Hymns for Him, but I'm thinking it may sound more like a choir group rather than a symphonic band. Thank you :)

If your a good multi-tasker.

It's all up to you and how much money and time do you have. Nursing school - you're on a schedule, either the 2-year or 4-year plan. Flight school - it's on your own time, and you don't really have any time limitations and can take as long as you need to complete it - 4 years if need be. All you need to do is complete the check blocks in the list you provided, that is the minimum - you will most likely require more probably 60-80 hours of flight time depending on how often you fly. Learning to fly helicopters can be expensive, and I don't recommend taking out any loans for flight training.
3 :
You could, but I would advise against it. The amount of time and effort required to be a competent pilot will cut into your study time for your Nursing program and vice versa. Your Nursing program will require you to be studying during those times you are not in class, leaving you next to no free time. That free time is not going to be well spent trying to cram aviation rules and regs for your license. Your mind will need a little down time and while studying Nursing, that down time is going to be few and far between. A pilots license is much more than just the seemingly simple little list you typed out, so focus on your Nursing first. Aviation will still be here when you finish and get a job to pay for those flight lessons.
