well, I dont think u should generalise a religion. there are black spots in all religions. howeverat the same time you cannot ignore these facts. At this time, when the whole community is under attack because of some fanatics, the muslim liberals should also come out. It is important, and it is unfortunately becoming necessary as there is the danger of all the muslims becoming typecast. The leaders of the religion are either fanatics or too weak, because of which there is a need for some to raise up their voices and probably put their lives in danger for the sake of their own religion.

it doesn't show you what islam is really about. what about all the islamic people who are fighting in our army? i'm sure they are plenty outraged, dont assume that just because someone doesn't start a riot that means that they aren't completely against the horrible things done in their God's name. The real reason the sensible muslims didn't start a riot after 9/11, even though they were horrified, is because they are sensible. and the reason the muslims that aren't sensible did start a riot after the cartoon is because they aren't sensible

Urm..dear sir..how do u know that the person who killed the children (christian in indonesia) was muslim? did the television show u the process of the killing, no right? dont just the tele tell u this and that u took it by heart. For e.g. what had happen in Iraq when people said the muslim kidnapped the reporters etc..how can u tell that the person behind the mask is a muslim? just because he spoke arabic so he's a muslim? what about a christian who lived in egypt, doesnt he speak arabic too? Plus nowadays people can converse in arabic fluently if they took up arabic class. Sir i hope that u and other (both muslim and christian) stop being a racist of religion. Start respecting other people religion as it will help us to make world a better place to live in. world PEace

I think you make a fabulous point! I am NOT Muslim however, I had to take a class on world religions in college and I just wanted to share with you what I learned. The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)-(note the verse number) Koran (9:11 ) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace!

Not only do they not oppose these things, They celebrate in the streets when Jews or Christians are killed. They go into ecstatic frenzies & celebrate by shooting guns in the air & they have their pictures taken with the corpses. They do NOT have a religion of peace. They do NOT respect life. They do NOT show tolerance for other religions. If they did; then why are church bells forbidden in Islamic countries? Why do they prohibit Jews from going onto the Temple Mound?

They usually point out a few Americanized Muslim cleric's voicing concern about these things but fail to realize if Muslims reacted to all these insidious crimes by Muslims GLOBALLY like they did with those stupid cartoons of Muhammad - if they with one voice condemned with outrage these beheadings THEN the world might be convinced Islam was really a religion of peace. Instead all you get is a few voices with the weight of whispering in a closed room so they don't offend the violent of Islam. There are indeed some Muslims who would like peace - but the violent ones are having their way. The peaceful are negated by the violent ones.

I think it's similar to the Christian response -- they weren't "real" Muslims. "Real" Christians weren't Crusaders "Real" Christians never slaughtered heretics "Real" Christians didn't ship Jews, gypsies, the handicapped, etc. to concentration camps where they could be used as slave labor and burned in ovens. The only reason why I bordered to answer this undeniably skewed question is to set the records straight as regards karen's answer to the Question....I hope she gets to read it. The Holy Quran Chapter 9, verse 11 has nothing to do with any eagle: it states.... ..But if they repent, establish regular prayers, and pay Zakah, they are your brethren in Faith: thus do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand. Quran 9, verse 11. I wonder where she gets that quote from , It is definitely not a verse of the Holy Quran.

I think that before we spek to this problem we should all take a serious look at all of todays religions. Questions to be answered: 1. What religion spreads through violent behavior? 2. Out of all of todays conflics, what religion is at the heart of most. 3. What religion teaches peace and is based upon 1500 years of written history. You don't see Christian or Jews or Hindu or Buddist or even athiest going around behedding people in the name of their God. Muslims do these things. Basically we are looking for the truth....God gives it to us daily if we listen.

Thanks for the clarification Zaki. I read that translation and was about to post the correction myself when I read your post. Now about setting the record straight. I don't think a paragraph on this forum is going to set any record straight. Smarter people have spent lives trying to reconcile the religions of the world and we are still we are where we are. Christ said who ever is innocent he should cast the first stone. So lets see if we can blame all the Muslims and Islam for the actions of a few and we can say that the Quran tells Muslims to kill Christians and Jews, then lets also blame all Christians for the actions of the few bad one and Christianity as well. Lets also look at the Bible about how it tells Christians that the Jews killed Christ and what sort of persecution that engenders. Also the Talmud Tractate Sanhedrin 107b says that “Jesus performed magic and incited the people of Israel and led them astray.†According to these Jewish texts, Jesus was executed for religious crimes and offenses that mattered to Jews. But wait before everyone starts getting defensive my point is not to blame everyone or point out the negative. My point is that everything comes with the good and the bad. Christianity has helped millions, heck billions of people around the world and over time. It has improved the human condition and so has Judaism. Believe it or not so has Islam. Remember the dark ages, when Europe was nothing but a back water of the world. All the enlightenment and learning and tolerance was actually in the Islamic world. Heck Baghdad isn't called the cradle of civilization for no reason. In Europe however, people were burned at the stake for opposing the church, later still protestants were persecuted, Spanish inquisition and much more. Not really much point in listing all that. And now that the enlightenment is centered in a different part of the world we go throwing aspersions on the rest of the world. Here is what history teaches us. If you get arrogant and lazy and begin to consider yourself better than others. You are on the express train to oblivion. The Romans thought all those who weren't from rome were 'barbarians', the Nazi’s thought all those who were not from them were lesser than them. I guess those barbarians showed those Romans and those playboy yanks showed those superior race folks. Not so long ago the general idea was that women weren't as smart or as capable. Even lesser time ago the idea was the blacks were somehow less than human. You see where I am going. If you pass a simple judgment that those people are just crazy or evil you are actually weakening yourself.
