The REAL Birther Conspiracy?
Perhaps the real conspiracy behind the Obama Birth Certificate is that he actually IS a bona fide natural-born citizen of Hawaii PRETENDING not to be one, littering the world with false clues to distract the rabid right. While birthers are endless debating the nuances of Kenyan translations and Hawaiian registry law, perusing newspapers from 1961, going door-to-door in Honolulu looking for 80-year old obstetricians and nurses, combing class notebooks from Indonesia, and analyzing watermarks while a motley crew of lawyers who barely agree on what conspiracies they actually subscribe to file competing suits across the country, Obama and his team are snickering in the lunch room. "Is it time to show the seal on the short form? My home scanner did a great job of muddying out the type and flattening the folds." "Tell Gates to rescind Major Cook's orders and watch them think we're on the run." Pure entertainment value for them. They're confidant that it's really a non-issue that will make the Republican Right look like buffoons for another 6 months or more. Is this the REAL conspiracy? Some of the more intelligent conservatives are beginning to think so. I erred in not pointing out the obvious sarcasm in this question. By the way, I have been a registered Republican since long before many of you were born. I am NOT a Liberal. I am, however, convinced that people should 1. Look at source documents, 2. Stop parroting partisans on either side, and 3. think for themselves. I used to believe Americans were intelligent enough to do so. I still have hope.

And it's not Republicans trying to prove the eligibility of the President of the USA by dragging up old birth announcements in the newspaper. It's liberals. I think you might be onto something. While there might be a lunatic fringe on both sides of the isle, this situation highlights a minority group of right wing nut jobs. Thus, it casts the GOP in an unflattering light. By the way, his birth certificate has been released. the right refuses to acknowledge it for some reason. I am pretty sure there is nothing you could possibly do to get them to take the tin foil hats off at this point.

He is paying a lot of someone's money to prevent releasing his long form original birth certificate. Are we supposed to believe he is doing this to "punk" the country, and that any minute now, Ashton Kutcher is going to come out of hiding and laugh at everyone? THAT is a stretch.

Dude, Obama doesn't care about this stuff. Hawaii has verified his birth there. BTW, why do the Right constant lie about Obama taking pains to "seal' is birth certificate? No one has to seal their birth certificate, transcripts, medical record, etc. They are sealed by law.

ll other issues aside, Barack is one of us because his mom was a full blown AMERICAN CITIZEN. Nobody has denied that absolute FACT! I bring this up because American law is clear on this issue.....if you have a single parent who IS an American citizen, it doesn't matter where on Earth, the moon or in what parallel universe you're born...YOU are an AMERICAN CITIZEN!!! In fact, it doesn't even matter if you don't have a birth certificate...all that matters is that one of your parents has citizenship. Barack's mom was an AMERICAN, so therefore our president is also a natural born citizen of our country. Please pass the word on this!

This whole "Obama's not an American" gambit has gone from hilarious to ok give it up. He is an American by birth and all of those who disagree ought to be embarrassed at their lack of intelligence. If Obama really was born in another country, the Clinton machine would have blown his cover in the primaries. Our President was born in our country under our laws. He is one of us.

I like your last line, but hope is dwindling, too many people listen to talk radio and mistake opinions of the people for "facts" and they never go farther than that. If you only get your information from one source, then you are going to make many many false assumptions. Whether you agree or not, people really should listen to both sides of an issue, so as to make a somewhat informed decision. People are all too willing to let someone else do their thinking and then claim whatever ideology is being spouted as their own without really knowing what the hell they are even talking about. But to get off my original rant and actually answer the birther conspiracy joke, it is hard not laugh at the stupidity of it all, even Bill O'Reilly said he was convinced Obama's citizenship was valid. Do these people really think the US Gov't didn't examine his records when it became apparent he was going to be in national politics? And how about the DNC, before throwing their weight behind him wouldn't you think he would have been thoroughly investigated? To these people I would advise they actually find some issues to be concerned with (for a change). Why waste time on such a stupid thing, unless that is all they are capable of focusing on.

The birth certificate issue is a non-sequituer issue. If there were any truth or evidence remotely challenging Obama's eligibility, the civil suits would have been filed the minute he became the Dem's nominee. I agree that the radical right wing idiots keep dragging it out. I say, "Shit, Piss or get off the pot" and file the cases.
